The name of cyclone "Bupar Joy" is proposed by Bangladesh. Buper Joy means "disaster." The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has authorized six regional specialized meteorological centers and five regional tropical storm warning centers to suggest the names of storms according to the nature.

It is to be noted that the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) is responsible for naming the storms formed near the south and southeast areas and it has been given the status of Regional Storm Meteorological Center. Naming System
In April 2020, the IMD prepared a list of 169 names to name cyclones, which included the names of 13 storms from each country. Each country must include a name for the storm.
